Low aspect mills are best suited to low-to-medium competent ores, while high aspect mills are more commonly used for competent ores either as single-stage circuits or autogenous-ball mill two-stage circuits. The larger diameter and short length provide better impact breakage for the competent ore. 9.3. Operation of AG/SAG Mills9.3.1. Feed Size

Gold grade of ore has a positive correlation with the abundance of NW-striking joints. The ore-hosting tuff consists of a 400 to 500 foot thick non-welded base, a densely welded central portion about 800 feet thick, and a less densely welded vapor-phase altered top that is 75-100 feet thick.

From the Candelaria opencast, ore mining is to continue primarily from the Phase 10 pushback in 2022, with initial ore production from the Phase 11 pushback during the year. In 2023 and 2024, ore is to be mined primarily from Phase 11. Over the guidance period, total mill throughput is forecast to range between 27 – 28 million tpy.
